Middle School

Grades 6 to 8

Our Middle School program provides a multi-faceted educational experience. Faculty instruct the whole student in social, emotional, intellectual, physical, and spiritual elements through our academics, extracurricular activities, arts, music, sports, and spiritual enrichment. Our experiential approach to this well-rounded curriculum encompasses hands-on lessons, technology, the arts, outdoor education, and foreign language acquisition. Our focus is teaching middle school students to understand the Christian worldview through inquiry, collaboration, discussion, and engagement in academic subjects.

Our goal is to prepare the middle school students for the rigor of high school. Regardless of their academic level, our teachers and classes equip them to successfully transition. Math and language courses taken continuously throughout our Middle School program prepare our students to be on track or join advanced level classes as they begin high school. These provisions allow them to enter our high school program seamlessly.

Our passionate teachers know that the middle school years are also transitional years. Character development in these years is vital. Teachers develop a close relationship with both student and parent forming a supportive network for the student. Utilizing the middle school students’ enthusiasm, caring spirit, desire for collaboration, and growing independence, teachers apply these traits in an effective and meaningful way to teach responsibility, good habits, compassion, teamwork, self-advocacy, conflict resolution and more.

CCA’s goal is to prepare students to be successful and effective in the world they will live and serve as adults. We believe that all students can achieve. It is not whether a student can achieve, it is how the student will achieve. Students are therefore developed to be thoroughly equipped to carry out God’s perfect plan for their lives. For our middle school students, this includes training in important life and growth skills for high school and beyond, such as innovation, critical thinking, problem-solving, social skills, and leadership skills. It is CCA’s purpose and objective for all students, in their transitional years, to develop to their full potential academically, emotionally, physically, socially, and spiritually.

The middle school curriculum supports the college-preparatory high school by building a solid academic foundation in each of the major fields of study: English, math, science, history, foreign language, and Bible. Students are encouraged to build this foundation based on true understanding and comprehension. Every student takes music, art, technology, and physical education as well. Although national standards such as Common Core and Next Generation Science Standards are the base of the curriculum, teachers provide interactive lessons on deeper levels of language arts, math, comprehension, research, and analytical skills. Students are individually challenged to grow and succeed. Many of our highly experienced high school faculty teach our middle school courses creating a smooth transition to high school. By giving our students the tools, guidance, and support they need, they are prepared to be on track or join advanced classes as they begin high school.

Middle school is also a time of exploration. Carefully selected top research-based secular and Christian curriculum, and project-based learning inspire middle school students to develop and discover their passions. Students begin to understand the purpose of learning and are encouraged to further their interest in the courses they take. Through each grade level, they begin to see how their aspirations grow and can turn into service and leadership opportunities through high school and the future. We use this timely opportunity to introduce college planning to middle school students.
